Every house has a story, this is the story of the LANDhouse. Grounded in the history and culture of the site, this is not the last house on Mulholland, but perhaps one of the first. I can remember when the sign read HOLLYWOODLAND, announcing your arrival at the neighbourhood, and then years later, the ensuing exile of the last four letters. I took it upon myself to resurrect these letters, and allow them to accomplish their fundamental purpose of embracing and complementing the environment they have always called home. The letters have been only partially excavated, cooperating with Griffith Park, which has provided refuge to the letters for so many years. At the foot of the N, is a quiet room for withdrawal from the motion of the world above. Gaze turns from the window above and is embraced by the security and sanctuary of the LAND.

The letters once again glow within the hills, among the flashing lights of signal towers and soft glow of homes. I find solace in the opportunity to retreat into LAND, and excitement in the offer to wander around its eminence.
